The purpose of the book is to provide students who are commencing their study of the law of delict with a general overview of case law on important principles and forms of delict. This case book makes a large number of authoritative judgments available in a single source.
Casebook on the Law of Delict contains 130 of the most important decisions on the law of delict from The South African Law Reports. The purpose of the casebook is specifically to provide students who are commencing their study of the law of delict with a general overview of case law on some of the most important principles and forms of delict.
Each judgment is introduced by a summary of the facts. This is followed by relevant extracts from the judgments, emphasising the most important aspects of the judgments. The extracts are fairly comprehensive to provide students with the opportunity to develop their skills in reading and interpreting court decisions. Each extract is followed by a note. The note refers in the first instance to important sources containing references to and discussions of the relevant case. Secondly, the most important aspects of the relevant case are briefly summarised.
The authors of Casebook on the Law of Delict are all senior law lecturers with many years of experience in teaching the law of delict. This experience is clearly reflected in the composition of the work.
Vonnisbundel oor die Deliktereg bevat 130 van die belangrikste beslissings oor die deliktereg uit Die Suid-Afrikaanse Hofverslae. Die bundel bied ’n algemene oorsig van regspraak wat verband hou met die beginsels en verskyningsvorme van delik. Studente wat vir die eerste keer met die deliktereg kennis maak, sal dit veral nuttig vind.
Elke uitspraak word ingelei deur ’n opsomming van die feite. Daarna volg relevante uittreksels uit die uitsprake, wat die belangrikste aspekte van elke uitspraak beklemtoon. Die uittreksels is betreklik volledig om studente se bedrewendheid in die lees van hofbeslissings te ontwikkel. Elke uittreksel word gevolg deur ’n aantekening.
